The Durban Automotive Cluster (DAC) aims to support the competitiveness, growth and sustainability of our members. As such, given the requirement by the Department of Trade and Industry (the dti) that incentives will be available only to firms with a Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) score of minimum Level Four from 1 January 2021, the DAC is delivering a ‘Level Four Accelerator’ Working Group. It aims to assist cluster members in achieving Level Four status as quickly and cost-effectively as possible.

 Aim

To drive the attainment of improved B-BBEE scores amongst DAC members in order to ensure continued access to vital incentive support.

 Objectives

• To deepen understanding of the B-BBEE Codes pertaining to ownership, management control, socio-economic development, enterprise and supplier development, and skills development, amongst DAC members
• To facilitate peer-learning and implementation of B-BBEE best practice by DAC members
• To showcase the options, implications and risks associated with various models of implementing B-BBEE related initiatives

 Workshops

Each workshop features best practice sharing from a member firm and input from a B-BBEE verification agency. Three workshops have been held to date, with two more planned, each focussing on a particular element of the B-BBEE scorecard:
