Negotiating Trade: Practical insight for South African manufacturers

Understanding the macro-economic and political environments within which firms operate is essential for negotiating and implementing effective export and growth strategies. The DAC hosted a workshop that provides high-level insight into national trade negotiations that directly impact the investment opportunities for South African Manufacturers.

Ms Mlumbi-Peter, Deputy Director General for International Trade and Economic Development at the dti shared insight on current negotiations, the process for trade negotiation and the consequences for local manufacturing businesses.

Sumitomo Rubber has successfully penetrated the African market with high export volumes to a large number of different African countries. Their business in Africa has come with its own set of challenges, hurdles and successes. Lubin Ozoux, Sumitomo’s Director of International Business shared their experience with leveraging African markets for economic growth.
