DAC 2020 Programme Highlights

The DAC facilitates regular activities to support the mutual competitiveness of the KZN automotive manufacturing sector. We look forward to our continued delivery of valuable programmes to our member firms in 2020.

The Manufacturing Excellence Programme

This programme is a structured initiative designed to improve firm-level competitiveness. The programme has packaged three strategic interventions to support members. The three-month programme starts with a benchmark diagnostic, thereby informing one-on-one support and intervention. Firms receive direct mentorship support at an executive level and, additionally, operators are capacitated to implement projects of direct benefit to firm performance.


The Skills Development Programme

The cluster offers a range of programmes for skills development to accommodate individuals from the operator level to the executive level. These include:
• Team Leader Training: 10 March 2020 – 11 May 2020
• Graduate Development Programme: 21 April 2020 – March 2021
• Management Development Programme: 5 May 2020 – 11 November 2020
• Senior Management Development Programme: July 2020
• Executive Development Programme: 6 October 2020 – 7 October 2020

The Localisation and Growth Programme

This programme is aimed at facilitating localisation opportunities and transformation in the automotive industry. Key initiatives for 2020 include:
• Tier 1 Audit: to understand realisable localisation opportunities and match appropriate suppliers.
• Black Supplier Development Programme: an initiative that provides new entrants with standards upgrading and capital investment market access support, and supports members by developing a pool of industry-ready Black suppliers.
• Technology Transfer: to assist firms in understanding production technology requirements and identifying appropriate international firms for peer-learning and knowledge transfer.
